Urgent: Universal Credit petition
A report has just been published by a powerful committee of MPs criticising the government for ignoring the unacceptable reality of Universal Credit.
Right now Chancellor Philip Hammond is deciding whether to ease the pain facing thousands of people struggling to make ends meet. He’s thinking of giving Universal Credit a cash boost in this week’s budget (as reported by Sky News)
But he’s being lobbied hard by politicians who want him to stick with harsh cuts. There are even MPs who have dismissed the reality of people surviving off food banks as scare stories. But this is the reality for too many people on Universal Credit.
We’ve got a rare opportunity to make our voices heard and get people some much-needed extra cash - at the Budget this week.
An emergency petition, signed by hundreds of thousands, would send a clear message to the Chancellor: use the budget to help struggling people.
